As we grow the NDPP across the country, building a quality Lifestyle Coach team is integral to this process. The State of Wellness offers wide, varied, and ever-growing training opportunities for your team. These opportunities range from the DPP Lifestyle Coach Training to “advanced training” opportunities to develop facilitation and coaching skills! Training consists of both live interactive live classes and dynamic multimedia, self-paced study components.

Now….here’s the “latest”!! Each Advanced course/topic is a stand alone training suitable for anyone who wishes to improve skills relating to group facilitation/coaching.  Each training was created in response to needs and interests expressed by both existing coaches and CDC’s desire for continuous quality improvement. Trained coaches are expected to complete at least 2 hours of advanced training each year. Check out the details of our “advanced” training opportunities:

  1. Cultural Competency Training –Focusing on “cultural competence”– a developmental process defined as a set of values, principles, behaviors, attitudes, and policies that enable health professionals to work effectively across racial, ethnic, and linguistically diverse groups. This CE course is approved by ICHWC for 1 continuing education units (CEP #100095) and 1 CHES/MCHES and CDR ceu/cech.
  2. Motivational Interviewing-This 100% online, approximate 6 week, 12 module training is designed for people with little or no experience with MI as well as for those wishing to improve their MI skills. Each week’s lessons include a brief post-test and exercises to complete. There will be 4 live, online practice sessions schedule throughout the training to reinforce learning. This CE course is approved by ICHWC for 15 continuing education units (CEP #100095) and 15 CHES/MCHES and CDR ceu/cech.
